How to Make Banana Bread: A Fall Favorite!

Fall-like weather is finally in full swing so cue the cozy vibes and pumpkin spice everything! Fall (which just so happens to be my favorite) is the perfect season to start baking again. Cooler weather and shorter days are ideal for enjoying a warm, freshly baked pastry. So if you have some overripe bananas (let's be honest, who doesn't?) and feel like embracing the season with good old-fashion baking, here's an easy yet mouthwatering banana bread recipe for you to try! I call it easy because all you need to do is combine the wet ingredients with the mashed bananas, then add the dry ingredients, and you're good to go! If you'd like to jazz it up, you can add any of the mix-ins from the list below. Despite the short list of ingredients, this banana bread recipe still produces soft and super moist results!

Supplies Needed for This Recipe:

  • Large mixing bowl

  • Medium mixing bowl

  • Whisk

  • Hand mixer

  • Fork to mash the bananas

  • 9x5 loaf pan

The Details:

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Cook time: 1 hour

Total Time: 1 hour and 20 minutes

  • Walnuts

  • chocolate chips

  • Spices like nutmeg, allspice, or cinnamon

Helpful Tip

If you have overripe bananas but are not quite ready to make banana bread, you can store them in the freezer until you're ready. Just peel the bananas and put them in a ziplock bag. When you're ready just thaw them before mashing and adding them to your recipe.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What if I want to make muffins instead?

I feel ya! A loaf slice is more challenging to eat on the go than a muffin. Just line a muffin tin and fill each baking cup about 3/4 of the way. Also, reduce the baking time to 20 minutes.

What if I get creative and add mix-ins? How much do I add?

I suggest adding between 3/4 of a cup to 1 cup of a mix-in of choice.

Can I reheat it?

Absolutely! You can reheat it in the toaster, toaster oven, or microwave!

Ciao for now,

Sandra
